Privacy Policy
How we protect your data and respect your privacy
Last updated: 6/15/2025
Introduction
This Privacy Policy explains how IPBot.me ("we", "us", or "our") collects, uses, and discloses your information when you use our web application (the "Service").
Information We Collect
We collect the following types of information when you use our Service:
- Browser Information: We collect information about your browser type and version, operating system, and device type to create your bot representation in the app.
- IP Address: When you access the Service, your public IP address is used in real time to determine your approximate country for the purpose of displaying a flag next to your bot. Your full IP address is visible only to you and is not stored or shared with other users. IP addresses of other users are masked (e.g., only the first two octets are shown) to preserve anonymity.
- Session Data: We use session identifiers to associate your browser with your bot on the screen and maintain your session state.
How We Use Your Information
We use the information we collect to:
- Create and maintain your bot avatar in the interactive environment
- Display your country flag based on IP geolocation
- Ensure the application functions properly
- Improve our application based on usage patterns
Data Sharing
Your bot's information (browser type, operating system, and country) is visible to other users of the application. However, personal identifiers such as your full IP address are never shared with other users.
Cookies and Local Storage
We use browser local storage to maintain your session and remember your preferences. This information remains on your device and is not shared with our servers unless necessary for the functioning of the application.
Your Rights
Under GDPR and other applicable privacy laws, you have certain rights including:
- The right to access your personal data
- The right to request correction or deletion of your data
- The right to restrict or object to processing
- The right to data portability
Changes to Bot Name
Any changes you make to your bot's name are stored in our database and associated with your session. This information is used solely to display your bot name to other users.
Data Visibility
Each user can see only their own IP address when connected to the Service. The IP addresses of other users are anonymized and partially masked (e.g., "192.168.xxx.xxx") to prevent identification. This applies to all visitors, including automated services such as screenshot or monitoring tools. No personal data from other users is publicly visible.
Data Retention
We retain your bot information only during your active session. IP addresses are processed in-memory and are not stored in persistent databases. Once you disconnect or close the application, all session-related data — including your IP address — is deleted.
Third-Party Services
We use Firebase Realtime Database to enable real-time communication between users. Please refer to Google's Privacy Policy for information about how they process data.
Changes to This Privacy Policy
We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.
